HOMEWORK 5th graders are expected to spend at least 60 minutes each night Monday through Thursday preparing for class the next day. This is called the academic hour. Work not finished in class is homework and is expected to be completed at home and returned the next day. This is the first priority to complete. Once that work is finished, the children are encouraged to engage in activities that will enhance their classroom learning. Some examples are to study for an upcoming test, work on a long-term project, read their AR or genre study books, find answers to "I Wonder" questions on the web, or find related articles in magazines, newspapers, or on the Internet that relate to the curriculum. Never should you hear the words, "I have nothing to do for school"!

MISSION STATEMENT We, the High Flying Hawks of Room 210, will soar high, be the best we can be, and reach our potential each and every day. Our class will accomplish this by thinking about how our actions or comments will be received by others. By setting high goals for ourselves and then making every effort to achieve them, we will better ourselves now and for the future. As Hawks, we must be prepared and organized each day for learning. As a class we will accept everyone for who they are. Our class shall be respectful to ourselves and others at our school. As students. our goal is to never stop learning. Our efforts this year will allow us to be more capable of accepting responsibilities in life. We want a bright future and need many options to fulfill our dreams. If we can continue to meet our potential, we can live long, successful, and enriched lives.

CURRICULUM Curriculum in 5th Grade requires students to practice, then apply knowledge mastered in the lower grades. New knowledge is then added to their base to allow students to make the connections! Please visit the District Web Site to view the 5th Grade Learner Statements we will addressing this year.
