Helpers
Who's Who?
We are very lucky this year to have many helpers in our class.
Miss Jenny is an intern from Palatine High School and comes in the afternoon. Ms. Shirley is a senior helper in our class 2-3 mornings per week. Mrs. Hatzold and Mrs. Gebhardt are Program Assistants who help in our class at various times.
These helpers are wonderful and work with the children in small groups and provide that extra bit of attention.
Class Mission
Our Mission
We wrote a mission statement together.
Our mission in Room 102 is to learn as much as we can, make new friends and be the best person we can be.
To accomplish our mission we will listen and think carefully, work hard as a team and always try to do our best work.
This mission will help us stay focused on having a successful 2nd grade year!
At Home
Home Connection
Be sure to read every night with your child for at least 20 minutes and fill in the Daily Practice Log. Practice logs should always be kept in the Take Home Folder. REMEMBER TO CHECK YOUR CHILD'S HOMEWORK AND HELP HIM/HER MAKE CORRECTIONS. Word Study packets need to be completed each week. Use the list of words in the packet to complete the activities. The starred pages must be completed. Be sure to sign off on each activity that your child completes. Homework Power packets come home on Monday and must be completed and returned by the following Monday. Be sure to supervise your child with these activities and help them make corrections along the way. Please make sure your child returns homework on the due date!
Super Star
Super Star of the Week
Each week one student is the STAR of the week. This student shares a special photographic time line created at home. This time line is then displayed in the classroom. In addition the 'STAR' shares special things and takes questions from the class. Check out the Super Star Schedule given out earlier in the year for your child's week to SHINE! Remember to work on the time line with your child before their special date so it is ready to share.
Happy Birthday
Birthdays
Birthdays are special and we love to celebrate them. In honor of your special day you can invite a special guest to read to our class. Be sure to schedule a time to have your guest come. It doesn't need to be on your birthday. Summer birthdays can be celebrated on any day you choose - maybe on your half birthday. If you plan to bring treats for your birthday, please bring bite size treats that don't need cutting and no drinks. Thanks!
