Speech and language services are provided in CCSD 15 to children in early childhood through junior high.  Services are provided in the following areas:

Articulation/Phonology - Difficulty producing sounds correctly.  These sounds may be distorted, omitted, or substituted.  Difficulties could be due to oral-motor dysfunction, difficulty putting sounds together, or a developmental lag in acquiring sound productions.
*
Language - Difficulty understanding and/or producing language effectively.  Areas of difficulty include vocabulary acquisition, forming meaningful and/or correct sentences, thought organizations, and expression.
*
Fluency - Hesitation, prolongations, repetition of sounds or phrases, and/or complete block of speech utterances. 
*
Voice - Vocal quality may be hoarse, harsh, or weak due to habitual vocal abuse such as yelling.   

What the Speech Language Pathologist Does

*Observe and evaluate students that have been referred by parents or teachers for speech and language concerns.

*
Plan and provide therapy to improve speech and language skills.

*
Collaborate and consult with parents, teachers, and other
  professionals.

*
Serve as a member of the Student Services Team.
