Video Studio News |

The Virginia Lake video studio is located next to the Learning Center. It is used for many different projects. Every morning a group of 5th and 6th graders produce, write, direct and broadcast the "Morning Announcements" live at 8:30. During the "Morning Announcements" student announcers give the staff and students of Virginia Lake the important information of the day. The entire school is lead in the Pledge of Allegiance by a small group of students from a classroom. Every classroom will have an opportunity to lead the school in the Pledge of Allegiance. Classrooms also have an opportunity to film different projects in the studio, such as book commercials and classroom plays. This is a fantastic way for students to start to feel comfortable in front of a camera. |

Scholastic Reading Counts |
Scholastic Reading Counts is an independent reading program that promotes reading practice. This is a new program for Virginia Lake this year. Students will find almost 4800 quizzes for books in the Resource Center. Students can take a quiz after they have read a book. Scholastic Reading Counts books can be found in every section of the Resource Center. Students can also find many of these books at the public library. If you have any questions, you can call Mr. Marquis or your child's classroom teacher. |
