Comprehensive Music

In this course, students learn to play the piano using MIDI keyboards and the software eMedia Piano and Keyboard Method. Students are able to learn at their own pace. The basics of rhythm and notation are also taught. The quarter culminates in a piano recital.

EIGHTH grade

Music Technology

Students in this course have the opportunity to work extensively with current technological tools used in the music and digital world. Using Garage Band, a Mac application, students create a piece of music in a style of their choice. Combining Garage Band with Flip cameras, students create a commercial using music to help promote their product. Finally, students generate a podcast highlighting a band or artist of their choice and their influences.
