Forms and Purposes of Homework The purpose of homework is to: 1. Reinforce, review and practice each subject, 2. Prepare for quizzes and tests, 3. Research and project work, 4. Writing practice, 5. Reading practice to increase comprehension, 6. completion of unfinished class work. Sixth graders can expect 30-60 minutes of homework per day. Weekend homework minimal, only reading novels, or at times working on long term projects which is assigned at least one month in advance.
