Welcome to the Art Department !

Hello! To all my students, if you are reading this you are not making art. Stop now and start creating!
To students who made some art prior to logging on you may continue reading...!
My name is Mrs. Shapera and I teach 7th and 8th grade Art at Winston Campus.
I love ART!
Some of my favorite artists are the students in my classes! I also admire Picasso, Calder, Chagall,
O'Keefe and Matisse.
I have always liked art. In fact, the first piece of artwork that my parents framed was from my 7th grade art class--a painting of a horse. I had no idea then that I would later become an artist and a teacher!
I attended the
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and received a BFA in Painting with an emphasis in Photography. After college I spent one year on a study-abroad program in Jerusalem, Israel. I completed a Master's Degree in Teaching and Interdisciplinary Arts Education at Columbia College Chicago. And here I am at Winston Campus. I love teaching at Winston, especially after my morning cup of coffee!
