Learning Resource Center Mission Statement

Spring Book Fair
The Spring Book Fair will be on Thursday, May 4th during Open House. This is the Scholastic Buy One Get One Free Sale. It is a great opportunity to stock up on books for summer reading. Because the titles are limited to what is sent by Scholastic, books can not be reordered once the supply is exhausted. All proceeds will go to the purchase of additional reading materials for the LRC.

Parent Library
The Learning Resource Center at Jane Addams has resources available for parent use in the Parent Library section. A variety a materials are available to provide information to parents concerning a wide range of child rearing issues. Audio and video tapes are also included in the collection.

New Fiction Book Reviews Available
Reviews of new fiction titles purchased for the LRC are available for students and parents. Books are reviewed by numerous publications such as Library Media Connection, Publishers Weekly, School Library Journal, Horn Book, and Kirkus Review among others. It is hoped that making the reviews available can assist students in selecting books that meet both their interests and reading level. The reviews can be found in the white binder near the circulation desk.

Book Checkout
Students in grades 1-6 may have a total of two books checked out at any one time. Kindergarten students may have one book checked out at a time. All titles with the exception of magazines and reference books may be taken out for a period of one week. Magazines and reference books are for overnight checkout only.
